Welcome to SURJ SB
Showing Up for Racial Justice was created to answer a direct call by communities of color for white people to organize their own racial communities to do two specific things:
1. Take responsibility for educating themselves and their own racial peers about their role in upholding systemic racism, and learn what they can do to help dismantle it. 2. Support BIPOC-led organizing to combat racism, racial injustice, and white supremacy. We are the Santa Barbara Chapter of a national organization with over 150 chapters and affiliate groups across the United States. How do we call in and mobilize our own racial peers? We design and share anti-racism educational curriculum via presentations, workshops, and study-to-action groups in order to compel white people to better understand systemic racism and their role in dismantling it.

How do we show up to co-conspire with BIPOC organizers? We show up at events, actions, and protests to co-conspire in meeting the goals determined by BIPOC organizers. When invited, we co-organize with BIPOC-led organizing groups in our community.
